Salar Smokehouse has been nominated in the 'Innovation' and 'Best Business Development' categories at the 2009 Scottish Marine Aquaculture Awards. In one of Scotland's flagship industries, Salar and other top performers are to be honoured on June 18th at The Crown Estate Marine Aquaculture Awards. The awards encompass the full spectrum of Scotland's marine aquaculture industry, establishing and recognising them as 'the best of the best'. These prestigious awards are run in association with a number of high profile sponsors. The awards ceremony and gala dinner will take place at the Prestonfield House Hotel in Edinburgh.

Salar Smokehouse is now part of Loch Duart – the Sustainable Salmon Company. This means that all the salmon used to produce their unique Flaky Smoked Salmon recipe comes from the award-winning, Freedom Food Approved Loch Duart sea sites in North West Scotland. Loch Duart have also recently set up new sites in the Southern Isles and North Uist.
